Terms of business

We will usually negotiate an inclusive fee for a contract. This will be based on an estimate of the days required to complete the task. However, once we have agreed the price with you, we will hold to that no matter how many days the task takes to complete. If for any reason beyond our control (such as a change in the brief) we believe that significantly more work will be required to complete the task, then we would renegotiate this with you.

Our day rate is inclusive of all travel and incidental costs incurred within the county of Cumbria. If a project requires travel outside the county, we will agree a travel and subsistence budget, based on your own rates.

We will agree a schedule of payments that suits the accounting requirements of the client. However, for large contracts, particularly those spread over a period of several months, we will request an initial commissioning fee.

For small tasks, we are also able to charge at an hourly rate.

Your contract will be with a lead consultant who will be responsible for sub-contracting to other members of the consultancy team. Both John Porter and Judith Brown are VAT registered and VAT at the prevailing rate will be charged.

Our current day rate is £400 plus VAT. This is subject to annual review. Please call us to confirm current rates.
